Outright winner selections for Bay Hill

The stars are back in action this week with 19 of the world’s top 20 lining up – only LIV Golf’s Cam Smith missing. Americans have won the last two editions of this (Scheffler, DeChambeau) but international contenders won the previous six (Hatton, Molinari, McIlroy, Leishman, Day) and it’s two Europeans at the head of the betting again in Rahm (+600) and McIlroy (+900).

With the quantity of very top level talent on display it feels safe to assume that the winner will be a more likely sort and so the UF Team has picked out a couple of good value outright winner bets from those leading candidates. Rahm is a clear favorite but at +650 represents little value and Bay Hill hasn’t previously been a happy hunting ground for the Spaniard, read on for who the squad fancy to put the challenge up to him and the field.

WINNER: WILL ZALATORIS (+2500, PointsBet)

We’ve long been a fan of Zalatoris and it feels criminal that the American has only picked up one PGA TOUR title to date, but that’s undoubtedly going to change this season, and hopefully starting here at Bay Hill.

Injury blighted the backend of Zalatoris’ 2022 and he’s been carefully managing his return in 2023. His last outing, two weeks ago in the Genesis, resulted in a final round 64 and 4th place finish – showing the kind of form he was in through a successful 2022 summer. His iron play was excellent and similar will be required to navigate around Bay Hill.

He’s a notably shorter outright winner price with other sportsbooks but you can get +250 with FanDuel on a Top 10 Finishing Position, which seems a nice cover.

WINNER: COLLIN MORIKAWA (+2000, PointsBet)

Our second selection, Collin Morikawa, is fancied more in the betting with many sportsbooks and is perhaps a safer play on extended form.

An unfortunate runner-up in the first tournament of the year, blowing a huge lead to let Rahm pass by in the Tournament Of Champions, Morikawa has continued in good form to net a 3rd and T6 since. Again, solid iron play is a strong factor here with Morikawa ranking high in ‘strokes gained: approach the green’ standings.

Morikawa finished a strong T9 here on his last visit which was back in 2020.
