The UF Team pick out a few selections ahead of USA’s World Cup opener against Wales on Monday

The USMNT are back in the big time, as they return to the FIFA World Cup finals for the first time in eight years.

The Stars and Stripes take on Wales in their opening game, as they face each other for only the third time in history.

The UF Team has taken a look at the early markets, naming three selections that could be worth siding with ahead of Monday’s game.

Here are their best bets for USA v Wales.

WALES TO SCORE IN THE FIRST HALF (+155, Caesars)

The absence of centre-back Miles Robinson could prove to be a worry for the US and it would not be a surprise to see them concede an early goal.

Wales have scored a first half goal in their final seven WC qualification games and they even found the net against the likes of Belgium and the Czech Republic during that period.

While the US has been strong at the back in recent times, they will need time to adapt without Robinson and with the attacking talent Wales possess, they could fall behind early here.

USA TO SCORE SECOND HALF (+105, Caesars)

The US have normally found the net in the second half of play, with eight of their last 13 qualifying games seeing them find the net in the closing 45 minutes of play.

Wales have conceded in the second half in three of their last five games and while there is promise in the Welsh defense, there are still some doubts there.

The Stars and Stripes are usually stronger in the second half, so they are likely to find the net during this period of play.

CHRISTIAN PULISIC ANYTIME GOALSCORER (+400, FanDuel)

Pulisic’s price to find the net is remarkable here, particularly when you look at his scoring record for the United States.

The Chelsea winger has picked up 52 caps for the Stars and Stripes, scoring 21 goals in the process.

Pulisic was also the USA’s main threat in attack during the World Cup qualifying stages, as he bagged five goals in 10 appearances.

While Wales performed admirably in qualifying to reach this stage, they are not the strongest in defense as they have only managed to keep one clean sheet in their last 11 competitive games.

It is no secret that the USMNT has had its struggles in scoring goals, but Pulisic holds the star power for the USA line-up, and he culd well find the net here.
