Golf | PGA Championship: Finishing Position Picks

PART TWO OF OUR BETS FOR THE SEASON’S SECOND MAJOR

Following on from yesterday’s best bets in the outright winner market, we’ve found three further players that are great value to get themselves into one of the top finishing position brackets.

Missed yesterday’s winner bets, check them out here. For our latest selections, read on…

TOP 5 FINISH: TYRRELL HATTON (+700, FanDuel)

We landed this same bet at odds of +750 two weeks ago for the Wells Fargo Championship, and it would’ve paid to place the same bet last week for the AT&T Byron Nelson.

Hatton has nine top 10 finishes since October, five of which in the top five, yet he’s not won a tournament since January 2021. Somewhat unlucky perhaps, but by the nature of his game he rarely puts himself in a position to pull away from a chasing pack.

For all the same reasons as previous, we can see the Englishman going close at Oak Hill. There’s no doubt he’s playing excellent golf, aided by a significant improvement in his putting this season, but you would still fancy a hot player to to score lower, making the top 5 play the right bet for Hatton.

TOP 10 FINISH: BRYSON DECHAMBEAU (+750, FanDuel)

A former major winner, just three years ago, DeChambeau knows what it takes to perform on the biggest stage. Unfortunately, injuries, off-course events and focuses elsewhere have seen Bryson drift from the top of leaderboards and the public eye. However, a slimmer, rejuvenated, and seemingly more relaxed Bryson could well be the type of competitor Oak Hill requires.

The American finished T5 in Tulsa last week on the LIV Golf tour, surrounded by the likes of Cam Smith, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Joaquin Niemann. The confidence taken alongside his often spectacular driving should set Bryson up for a good week in New York.

TOP 10 FINISH: ADRIAN MERONK (+1600, FanDuel)

Meronk put on a fantastic display to win the Italian Open on his last start two weeks ago. Often we come to expect a post-victory lull but the Pole still has a point to be prove in doing it on U.S. soil as well as cementing a place in the European Ryder Cup team.

Driving accuracy and greens in regulation have been key for Meronk, who’s having his best ever season across tours, but in Italy he also ranked highly in driving distance. The likelihood of victory feels very slim given his PGA TOUR and majors record, but a repeat performance from Marco Simeone Golf & Country Club would give the Pole every chance of a top 10 finish.

All odds listed from FanDuel, as of Tuesday May 16.
