The 2023 schedule begins with the Sentry Tournament of Champions
39 of the world’s best will tee off on the Plantation Course, Kapalua Resort, in Maui this week, with just Rory McIlory not taking up the invitation. Jon Rahm is current favorite at +600 for the four round, no cut event.
Despite the immense talent throughout the field, this has historically been a tournament dominated by the top of the market. However, Cameron Smith (+2500) and Harris English (+3000) in the past two editions have paved the way for longer shots to claim glory in Hawaii.
BEST BET: XANDER SCHAUFFELE (+1000, FanDuel)
Xander is pretty clinical around this course – a winner in 2019, a playoff loser in 2020, T5 in 2021 and a respectable 12th in 2022. You can also draw a line through the 12th place finish last year due to the insanely low scoring, he still managed a -22 (better than his previous two scores).
Schauffele has teed up twice in the 22-23 schedule so far, finishing a 4th in the Hero Challenge and T9 in the Zozo. He’s primed for another big performance at the Kapulua Resort.
NEXT BEST: SUNGJAE IM (+1900, FanDuel)
T8 and T5 in the last two editions of this tournament stand the South Korean in good stead for the 2023 renewal. It’s no surprise Im thrives here either, low-scoring events favor the 24-year-old and he could notch his third PGA TOUR victory here.

LONGSHOT: BILLY HORSCHEL (+4200, FanDuel)
Horschel hasn’t fared too badly in this event in previous years. A couple of 66s in 2021 were let down by a 71 and 75 either side, whilst a 66 and 67 in 2022 was paired with a 70 and 72. His best rounds have been good enough to put him in contention and just a little consistency has let Horschel down. With this experience behind him, we expect a closer run this year.
