Scottie Scheffler is looking totally dominant as we enter major season, fortunately for the 155 players this week he will not be in attendance at the Copperhead Course in Palm Harbour, Florida.

This tournament threw us a nice bet winner last year as Taylor Moore put in a monster -4 final round to win by one shot. The omission of Scheffler, along with a win-shy Schauffele at the top of the market, makes us confident going into the outright this week to kick off our picks.

WINNER: SUNGJAE IM (+2500, DraftKings)

We start by following in on a player that cost us last week. Some may call this foolish, but if we’d employed this tactic earlier this season we could’ve seen huge profits.

What we did see from Im at TPC Sawgrass was a great ball striker, exactly the kind of player he can be at his best and what Copperhead demands. His putting prevented him going higher than T31 but we have confidence that’ll improve this week. The South Korean is playing well and against weaker opposition he could thrive.

In two appearances here, he’s finished T4 (-6) and T29 (-4), and Florida has been a happy hunting ground in previous times for the South Korean with a 2020 victory in the Honda Classic as well as a string of top 10 finishes in the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The PLAYERS.

McNealy is in excellent form at present and it clearly pays to back him for good performances, although never quite in the reckoning for victory. Despite the weaker field here, we expect much the same from McNealy as we’ve seen in previous weeks.

T13, T9 and T6 finishes in three of his last four starts and statistics to match. In Strokes Gained, the American is a very impressive 10th on tour this season, and the numbers on his approach play stack up to this testing second-shot course.

T36 here last year whilst battling significant injury issues, he’ll be much better this time around. Top-10 is somewhat of a safe play on one of the most in-form golfers on tour but +500 is still good value.

Twice this season Mitchell has logged a top-10, we fancy he could go for a season-best this week though. A dreadful weekend at Sawgrass came after a good start and three performances prior that indicate he’s found form on all parts of his game, which is key to Mitchell’s success.

Ever excellent off-the-tee, Mitchell will put himself in positions to capitalize at Copperhead. In previous years you’d have little confidence he’d then convert, but that approach game has turned on its head this season and he now ranks 33rd in Shots Gained: Approach (vs 160th last season!).

Like McNealy, it feels as though there will be one or two of the elite set that could blow this away and put victory out of contention, but if his new found approach play continues then his first top five of the season is very much possible.
