Our Basketball expert has three picks to consider for the next round of March Madness

It’s crunch time in March Madness, as the Sweet Sixteen matchups get underway this evening.

After landing two upset bets last time out, our Basketball tipster returns with three picks for the next round of the NCAA Tournament.

Here are the Best Bets for the Sweet Sixteen round of this year’s March Madness tournament.

After thumping the James Madison Dukes 93-55 in the second round, Duke holds some potential value in their Sweet Sixteen matchup against Houston.

The Blue Devils possess one of the most efficient offenses in the country along with a top-20 ranked defense (on KenPom rankings), and they may well have overlooked ahead of their clash with the Cougars.

Houston only just managed to get past Texas A&M last round, with the matchup dragging out into overtime before the Cougars got the win.

That could have knock-on effects, and with the Duke offense firing the way it is currently, they could cause some problems.

The Blue Devils have been underestimated in this matchup, and they should be able to book their place in the Elite Eight. Take them to win on the moneyline combined with the points over.

TIP: Duke ML + Over 134.5 Points Same Game Parlay (+425, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Could the NC State cinderella story continue into the Elite Eight? It could well do.

The Wolfpack have won seven straight games, after producing a miracle run to the ACC Tournament title before dispatching Texas Tech and Oakland to reach the Sweet Sixteen.

Their challenger for a spot in the Elite Eight? Number two seed Marquette, who were pushed by Colorado all the way in their last game.

The NC State upset is not impossible in this matchup, but taking the spread looks a better option here – with the six-and-a-half point advantage looking good.

Marquette have only recorded victory by seven points or more in two of their last eight games, so the Wolfpack could keep this close at the bare minimum.

TIP: NC State +6.5 (-108, FanDuel)

While the first two bets focus on potential upsets, the third pick will be focusing on a favourite to get the job done.

That is North Carolina, who take on fourth seed Alabama for a place in the Elite Eight.

The Tar Heels have looked sharp in their opening two games of the tournament, beating Wagner by 28 points before displacing Michigan State with a 16-point victory.

The Alabama offense will be tricky to deal with at the best of times, but their defense has constantly let them down – so the Tar Heels should be able to pull away if they are efficient in offense.

Take North Carolina on the spread here.

TIP: North Carolina -4.5 (-105, FanDuel)
