We have a handful of picks for this evening’s NBA action
For the first time in a week, our NBA expert is back with more top tips for the next round of matchups.
This evening’s tips focus on the San Antonio Spurs @ Minnesota Timberwolves game as well as the Toronto Raptors.
Here are the best bets for Wednesday’s NBA games.
WEMBY AND THE WOLVES
The Spurs are getting deeper into their losing streak, with the Western Conference franchise now suffering 14 straight defeats.
It likely will get worse this evening, as they face the 15-4 Timberwolves – who sit at the complete other end of the Western standing.
Success looks to be out of reach for San Antonio here, especially as they have allowed an average of 130 points per game across their last three outings. Due to the strength of the opposition, it would not be a surprise to see the Spurs go all-out on offense and leave the defense wide open. As a wise man once said, ‘the best defense is a good offense’.
The absence of Anthony Edwards is a blow for Minnesota, but they should have enough in the tank to put up the points in this matchup.
The over looks good value here, and there could be some interest in Victor Wembanyama’s points line as well.
The number one draft pick is slowly settling into life in the NBA, and he has now recorded four straight games with 20+ points scored.
The French center does have his hands full against one of the best performing defenses in the league this year, but he has already put up a decent performance against them – scoring 29 points in their meeting back in mid-November.
Wembanyama’s price to break 20 points again here looks good value, as well as
TIP: SA Spurs/MIN Timberwolves Over 227.5 Points (-110, FanDuel)
TIP: Victor Wembanyama 20+ Points (-110, FanDuel)
RAPTORS TAKING THE HEAT
While the Raptors have not proven to be the most consistent side this year, they should be considered here when looking at the current situation the Heat find themselves in.
Miami have lost several big names to injury, with Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro and Haywood Highsmith all due to sit out this contest. That will put pressure on the likes of Jimmy Butler and Jaime Jaquez Jr. to pick up the slack and perform.
The Raptors defense has proven to be fairly efficient throughout this campaign, and they should be able to contain a shorthanded Heat attack.
With Adebayo missing, the Toronto offense should be able to take advantage here – and cover the spread with ease.
