NBA FINALS | Best Bets for Boston/Dallas Game 5

Our Basketball expert return with a handful of tips for the fifth game of the 2024 NBA Finals

After thumping the Celtics in Game 4, the Mavericks will be hoping to continue their winning momentum into Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

Our basketball tipster has taken a look through the markets, picking out a handful of selections for this evening’s matchup.

Here are the best bets for Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

RETURN OF THE MAVS?

Game 4 proved to be an intriguing, yet weird watch.

The Celtics clearly did not want to win the game, as they seemed to put the idea of winning the NBA Championship on home court in their mind – while the Mavs put their heads down and went to work.

That strategy from Boston could well come back to haunt them – as the Mavs have gone from looking finished to having winning momentum on their side – that could prove to be a problem.

It seems a little arrogant of Boston to effectively ‘throw’ a game like that, and it could take them some time to get back in the swing of things.

The Mavs could at least push them all the way here, so the six and a half point on the spread looks the option here – along with a small stake on the moneyline market.

TIP: Dallas Mavericks +6.5 (-108, FanDuel)
TIP: Dallas Mavericks ML (+215, FanDuel)

PICKING OUT PJ

After only featuring for 14 minutes in Game 4, P.J. Washington could bounce back in a must-win Game 5 for the Mavs.

The Dallas forward has stepped up for his franchise during the postseason, putting up 13.4 points per game across 21 appearances this campaign.

Due to the sheer dominance of the Mavs in Game 4, it’s likely he was pulled out to be rested ahead of Game 5 – so there’s a strong chance he will get more minutes here.

He has put up at least 13 points in each of the first three games of the NBA Finals – so he could well hit that total again here.

FanDuel have given generous odds for the former Hornets recruit to surpass 12.5 points, so that could prove to be the play here.

TIP: P.J Washington Over 12.5 Points (+102, FanDuel)
