Our in-house football expert is back with two longshot selections for this weekend’s action, focusing on the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys/Carolina Panthers matchup.

PURDY’S PIRATE PILLORY
Averaging 258.3 passing yards per game this season, Brock Purdy could put up a big performance against the Buccaneers this week.
The Tampa Bay secondary has been poor this season, allowing the second most passing yards per game across the entire NFL in 2023.
They gave up 470 yards to rookie QB C.J. Stroud in Week 9, as well as allowing Josh Allen to throw for 324 yards in Week 8.
With the likes of Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel and George Kittle in the 49ers receiving corps, Purdy could easily surpass 300+ passing yards in this matchup.
The 49ers defence will likely do their job as well, especially with both Chase Young and Nick Bosa pairing up on the defensive line.
Add in superstar dual-threat running back Christian McCaffrey, and suddenly 325+ passing yards from Brock Purdy looks achievable in this matchup.

CRUNCH TIME IN CAROLINA
The Dallas Cowboys will be expected to beat the 1-8 Panthers and while that will almost indefinitely happen, they do not make it easy for themselves.
The NFC East team are on the road this week, and that is one thing that is already against them. They fell to a shock defeat to the Arizona Cardinals earlier in the season, who managed to put up 28 points against them.
While Dallas have improved, this game gives off similar vibes to their loss to the Cardinals – and while the Panthers have been terrible in all aspects, they do have a performance in them on the odd occasion.
Carolina are only averaging 17+ points per game this season, which is a slight concern. However, if the likes of Adam Thielen and Chuba Hubbard are at their best and Bryce Young shakes off the rookie QB hoodoo, then they could drum up some points here.
Both teams to score 25+ points in this matchup has some value about it, and it could be worth backing here.
