Our in-house tipster has two selections with big prices ahead of this weekend’s NFL schedule
After an exciting opening weekend, we are already into the second week of the 2023 NFL season.
Our resident tipster is back with more NFL picks, starting with a couple of selections with some decent odds.
Here are Week 2’s Best Longshot Bets for the NFL.
SUPER SMYTHE
While many will be expecting Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle to be the main receivers in the Dolphins pass attack, there is one underrated option that has come out of the Week 1 matchups.
Sixth-year tight end Durham Smythe played every offensive snap for Miami against the Chargers, catching three of his seven targets for 44 receiving yards.
Smythe could be an undetected threat for the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football, and he could well cause the Pats some problems this weekend.
New England allowed the second-most touchdowns to tight ends in the 2022 season, and while they did keep the Eagles tight ends quiet in Week 1, they could struggle to keep the explosive Smythe contained here.
The Miami TE carries a price of +400 to find the endzone this week, which looks great value in this matchup.
TIP: Durham Smythe Anytime Touchdown (+400, FanDuel)
DON’T HATE ON HOWELL
After a slightly hit-and-miss performance in Week 1, Sam Howell could show signs of progress this weekend when the Commanders take on the Broncos.
Despite turning the ball over twice, the North Carolina graduate still managed to throw for 202 yards and a touchdown against Arizona.
While the Broncos secondary is fairly good, it’s not at the level that it once was – which gives Howell a chance of showing further improvement after only his second NFL start.
Howell’s passing ability looks strong, and he could well create some big plays going forward, which gives him a chance of drumming up his biggest passing yard total to date – surpass 250+ passing yards.
His odds to do so here look too good to ignore, with the price of +340 holding some value.
