Our football expert is back with three more futures for the 2024 NFL season, focusing on some of the scenarios kicked up from the first two weeks of free agency.

The opening fortnight of free agency has kicked up some surprises across the board – setting up some exciting scenarios for the NFL Draft and the opening few weeks of the 2024 season.

Our football tipster has looked through the markets, picking out three futures selections that could be worth backing.

Here are the three more futures bets to consider for the NFL following the opening two weeks of free agency.

MAKE MCCARTHY A VIKING

Following the departure of Kirk Cousins, the Vikings find themselves in a desperate situation at quarterback.

Yes, they’ve signed Sam Darnold. But he’s the not the future face of the franchise, he’s a backup at best.

It is looking incredibly likely they will rely on the draft to get the job done – with the potential to trade up to get their man.

The Cardinals have made no secret of being open to offer for the fourth overall pick – so it wouldn’t be a shock to see Minnesota dive for the opportunity to get a quarterback here.

By that point, it will be very likely that Caleb Williams, Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels will be off the board – so that leaves Michigan star J.J. McCarthy.

The current national champion has launched up draft board in recent weeks, and he could be a great fit for Minnesota in their time of need.

It is a brave call in all honesty – but the Vikings are desperate. They could well trade and take McCarthy at pick number four in this year’s draft – and at nice odds too.

If they don’t opt for McCarthy that early, they still have the 11th pick (currently). There is always one player that bombs in the draft – and that well could be McCarthy.

He’s looking destined to become a Viking, so that looks a good backup market if he doesn’t go at number four.

TIP: J.J. McCarthy Number 4 Overall Pick (+200, FanDuel)

TIP: J.J McCarthy to be selected by the Minnesota Vikings (-105, FanDuel)

THE HENRY/LAMAR PROJECT

Running Back has always been an odd position for the Ravens in recent years – but they look to finally have a star in their backfield.

Derrick Henry has switched from Tennessee to Baltimore during free agency – and he could well turn the Ravens into a force on the ground alongside two-time MVP Lamar Jackson.

Henry has surpassed 1,500 rushing yards in three of the last five seasons – while Jackson has recorded 750 or more rushing yards in five of his six seasons as a pro.

Obviously, they will both eat into each other’s workload – but a 2,000-yard combined rushing total between these two rushing forces looks achievable in 2024.

TIP: Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson to combine for 2000+ Rushing Yards in the Regular Season (+350, DraftKings Sportsbook)
