SEA SEAHAWKS @ SF 49ERS (4:30pm ET)
The NFL playoff season kicks off with an NFC West showdown, as Geno Smith and the Seahawks head to San Francisco to take on the 49ers.
San Fran has had their fair share of bad luck with injuries, but they look like they may have struck gold from an unlikely source – their third-string QB Brock Purdy.
The final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft has been in inspiring form since been handed his first start, becoming only the third rookie in NFL history to start five or more games and go undefeated as a starter.
Purdy is part of the reason the 49ers have become one of the favourites to win the Super Bowl and he could well lead San Francisco to the Divisional Round here.
The Seahawks defense is not as strong as it once was, with ‘The Legion of Boom’ days looking a long way back in the past.
Seattle seem to be struggling to contain tight ends, as they allowed the most yards to the position in the regular season.
That doesn’t bode well when the 49ers have one of the best TEs in the league on their roster, in the form of four-time Pro Bowler George Kittle.
40+ yards looks achievable for Kittle in this matchup and after scoring a massive total of 11 TDs in the regular season, he could find the endzone once again for San Fran.
- Brock Purdy Over 1.5 Passing TDs (-114, FanDuel)
- George Kittle Over 39.5 Receiving Yards & 1+ TD Scored (+260, Pointsbet)
LA CHARGERS @ JAX JAGUARS (8:15pm ET)
After winning seven of their last nine games, the Jaguars snatched the AFC South title from the Titans on the final day of the regular season to book their place in the playoffs.
They face a seriously tough offense in the Chargers, with the dream team of Justin Herbert, Austin Ekeler and Keenan Allen in their ranks.
However, the LA defense was one of the worst in containing the rushing game in the regular season, which opens up a door of opportunity for Travis Etienne.
The 2021 first-round draft pick has surpassed 80 rushing yards in three of his last four games and he faces a Chargers defense that has allowed an average of 126 rushing yards a game to running backs this season.
Ettiene could cause havoc here and he looks good value to surpass 78 rushing yards and to find the end zone here.
With the passing abilities of both Lawrence and Herbert, this game has the potential to become a shootout and we’re liking the over line here.
43+ points looks a very achievable line, so we’re happy to take a chance on that here.
- Over 42 Points ( -105, FanDuel)
- Travis Etienne Over 77.5 Rushing Yards + 1+ TD scored (+200, Pointsbet)
