Our football tipster is back with three selections for Week 14’s TNF matchup between Pittsburgh and New England
Only five weeks of the NFL regular season remain in 2023, with plenty still to play for in regards of the playoffs.
Week 14 gets underway with a slightly underwhelming TNF matchup, as the 2-10 New England Patriots head to Pittsburgh to take on the 7-5 Steelers.
Our football tipster is back with three more selections for the upcoming action, focusing on several different markets for Thursday’s games.
Here are the Best Bets for Week 14’s TNF game.
PATRIOTS PARKING THE BUS
Despite the Steelers holding a 7-5 record, they have not been the most promising in terms of their offense as of late.
While the sacking of OC Matt Canada will be deemed as a boost, they have taken a bit of a step back with Kenny Pickett undergoing surgery on his ankle. Even with Pickett, Pittsburgh have not set the league alight – only managing to score 16 points per game in 2023.
While the Patriots have lost five straight games, they have managed to keep it close – they have lost by six points or less in their last four outings.
If New England sort out their offensive woes here, they should be able to keep this close – especially with Pittsburgh facing offensive issues of their own.
Take the Patriots on the spread in this matchup.
TIP: New England +6 (-110, FanDuel)
ZIPPITY ZAPPE ZEKE
The Patriots offense is in disarray currently. Bill Belichick cannot decide on a starting QB between Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe, while their running back committee has taken a hit with Rhamondre Stevenson ruled out for a few weeks.
However, that situation could play into the hands of veteran RB Ezekiel Elliott. His workload should almost double instantly here, and he has shown plenty of ability across his eight seasons in the NFL.
The Steelers defense has struggled to stop the rushing attack this year – allowing 101.7 rushing yards per game in 2023.
That gives Elliott a golden opportunity to smash his over line on the ground here – and help get the Patriots offense going once again.
TIP: Ezekiel Elliott Over 59.5 Rushing Yards (-110, DraftKings Sportsbook)
While the loss of Kenny Pickett is far from ideal for the Steelers, they do have a respectable backup in Mitch Trubisky.
While his time as a starting quarterback for both the Bears and Pittsburgh was far from ideal, he still does carry some numbers – with 70 touchdown passes thrown as a pro.
That gives the Steelers passing game at least a chance of jump starting here – and it means some of the receiving unit hold significant value to find the endzone.
Diontae Johnson has seen the most receptions and targets in the redzone for Pittsburgh this season, as well as scoring two touchdowns in his last three home games.
His price of +340 looks a solid price in this contest – especially when the Patriots are allowing an average of one passing touchdowns per game to wideouts since Week 6.
