A new batch of rookies descends on the NFL in 2022, with plenty of exciting prospects making their first starts in professional football.

Today’s Futures article focuses on the Offensive Rookie Of The Year award, with the likes of Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Herbert and Kyler Murray claiming the accolade in recent years.

The UltimateFan team have taken a look through the Class of 2022, naming three potential breakout stars that could land the award.

Here are their Futures selections for the 2022 Offensive Rookie Of The Year.

BEST SELECTION – Christian Watson (+1000 with Caesars Sportsbook)

While Christian Watson was not a standout among a class of exciting wideouts, his new destination has suddenly raised some interest.

The North Dakota State graduate was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the second round, with the 23-year-old likely to be thrown straight into a starting role at the Wisconsin-based franchise.

Aaron Rodgers will be looking a forge new QB-WR partnership following the trade of Davante Adams, with the incoming Watson holding a chance of hopping of Allen Lazard into that role with the dual-winning NFL MVP.

If Watson hits the ground running here, it’s likely he could drum up some big numbers in his debut season.

NEXT BEST – Chris Olave (+1200 with Caesars Sportsbook)

After being drafted in the first round of this year’s draft, Chris Olave could set the NFC South on fire for the New Orleans Saints.

The Ohio State graduate impressed in his time with the Buckeyes, breaking the school record of most career touchdown receptions (35) as well as receiving first-team All-Big Ten honors twice.

The 21-year-old will learn from one of the best wide receivers in the modern era in Michael Thomas and he could well play a bigger role if Thomas is ruled out with injury yet again.

Olave’s fluid movement and well-rounded ball skills could launch him into the spotlight this year, with the OROTY award potentially in his grasp if he gets off to a strong start.

VALUE PICK – Sam Howell (+2500 with Caesars Sportsbook)

This is a bit of a risky pick especially as Sam Howell isn’t even the starting quarterback for the Commanders, but hear us out.

While the franchise made a trade for Carson Wentz in March, the NFC East team still opted to take Howell in the 2022 Draft who smashed North Carolina’s school records for most career passing yards, touchdown passes and TD passes in a single season.

Despite being a respected starting QB, Wentz’s injury record is one to take note of and if Howell could leapfrog his way over Taylor Heinicke into the backup role, he will likely see some game time this season.

It’s a longshot but if Wentz is ruled out quite early, we could see Howell make his mark in the NFL a little earlier than planned.
