Celebrities and sporting stars line-up with 156-pros this week at Pebble Beach

This week’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am returns to the Thursday-Sunday schedule, however like last week and the previous three official tournaments this event will also be played across three different courses. Each professional pairs up with an amateur for the first three rounds on Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill and Monterey Peninsula before the top-60 or so pros will play Pebble Beach on Sunday.

Amongst the amateurs, the standout is a debut for recently retired international soccer star and MLS Cup winner Gareth Bale, who also impressed Jon Rahm over nine holes at Torrey Pines last week. Amongst the pros, the standard is set by Fitzpatrick (+1100), Hovland (+1200) and Spieth (+1200). There isn’t great depth in world class talent behind those but that could well lead to a winner at good value odds if the leading trio falter.

FINISHING POSITION – TOP 10: MATT KUCHAR (+375, PointsBet)

After back-to-back wins on Justin Rose selections, it was difficult to opt against the Englishman at the same odds for a top-10 finish, but this event historically favors US players and Matt Kuchar has all the experience along with a T7 finish in his only 2023 start to finish on Sunday ahead of the relatively inexperienced field.

FINISHING POSITION – TOP 20: TROY MERRITT (+400, PoinstBet)

Patchy recent form, but includes a T3 in November’s Worldwide Technology Championship. The selection however is based on course form with top-25 finishes in all four previous visits, including a T4 last year.

FINISHING POSITION – TOP 20: Aaron Baddeley (+450, PointsBet)

Prior to missing last week’s cut, Baddeley carded a respectable score in the American Express and finished T7 in the Sony Open. Meanwhile across four tournaments in the Fall, Baddeley secured a T39, T36 and T3. A top-20 finish is easily within reach and +450 offers tremendous value for that.

All odds listed from PointsBet, as of Tuesday January 31.
