The tour remains in Hawaii for this week’s Sony Open

The Sentry Tournament of Champions headlines were dominated by Morikawa and his inability to get across the line when seemingly in an unlosable position. Rahm put in a stellar final round to surpass him though, however both golfers, along with a host of the other 39 competitors at the weekend, will not be making the short trip to Waialae Country Club.

Korean’s Kim and Im lead the betting odds for the Sony Open at +1100 and +1400 respectively, justifiably so after good performances in Maui. But a number of others players came back with a bang last week and form the basis for a couple picks by the UF Team.

BEST BET: COREY CONNERS (+2200, FanDuel)

Conners finished T18 in Maui with a solid -6 final round to card a -17 score. The break seemed to have helped after a poor display in the Hero World Challenge to round off 2022.

The Canadian came 11th in last year’s edition of the Sony Open with a pair of 64s highlighting his round. Similar rounds will see Conners close on Sunday.

NEXT BEST: J.J. SPAUN (+4000, FanDuel)

T5 last week and T15 in his final two official competitions of 2022, J.J. is in good form, perhaps the best of his career. His odds for the Sony Open are reflected by poor showings here previously, but he’s a different player now.

Spaun just missed the cut in this 12 months ago having put in a consistent pair of -1 rounds but he is undoubtedly a much better player and far more is expected.

LONGSHOT: RYAN PALMER (+10000, FanDuel)

Palmer is a former winner here (2010) and whilst this season’s results haven’t been up to standard, the winter break will have been welcomed and an excellent performance in the recent QBE Shootout will have offered great confidence.

Palmer clearly enjoys his trips to Waialae having followed his victory with a number of top-20 finishes and a T4 in 2020 along with a T12 last year.

All odds listed from FanDuel, as of Tuesday January 10.
