Our football expert picks out a few tips for the two touchdown markets for this year’s big game
This year’s Super Bowl is over a week away, but the preparations are already beginning at UltimateFan HQ.
After revealing his early picks for MVP, our football expert is back with his early selections for the First & Anytime TD market.
He has picked out four selections, ranging from +550 to +1000 in price.
Here are this year’s early picks from the Super Bowl First + Anytime TD market.
There’s plenty of value floating around in this market – on both rosters.
There is a clear option in Christian McCaffrey for this market, but his price is not great – and he’s not the dead-cert for the first touchdown as many would think.
The San Francisco running back has only scored the first TD on four occasions this season, as it seems to be a bit more scattered among the roster.
49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is next on the list, as he has scored the first touchdown on three occasions this season.
There is a massive gulf in price between Aiyuk and McCaffrey for the opening score – especially as Aiyuk’s price is at double figures.
The fourth-year receiver holds some value here – and looks to be the play with the NFC franchise.
On the Chiefs side of the ball, only two players have scored the first touchdown on multiple occasions this season.
The first being Isiah Pacheco as many would expect. The running back has punched the ball into the endzone first on four occasions this season.
The other player is a slight surprise – as rookie wideout Rashee Rice has scored three opening touchdowns this campaign.
With the second-most targets among the KC offense, Rice has become a favourite of Mahomes in the passing department – especially early on as it seems.
That makes Rice a worthwhile option in this market, especially with odds of +1000.
TIP: Brandon Aiyuk First TD Scorer (+1000, FanDuel)
TIP: Rashee Rice First TD Scorer (+1000, FanDuel)
Two interesting options in the anytime scorer market – especially at their current prices.
The first comes from the 49ers. Christian McCaffrey is clearly the bellcow back in this line-up and he will take the majority of snaps in this contest.
However, any football fan will know that CMC is seriously unlucky on the injury front. There is a chance he could get hurt in this matchup, especially if adrenaline is pumping through the KC defense. It is the Super Bowl, players will be doing absolutely everything to win the game.
So, if CMC does get injured, you would expect Eli Mitchell to step in. He’s in been in stellar form as of late, scoring a touchdown in each of his last three outings.
That could give him a chance to find the endzone at a big price – especially in the anytime market.
In terms of the Chiefs, wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling could be worth taking a punt on here.
The KC recruit doesn’t see the ball come his way often, but he is becoming the ‘big play’ guy in terms of long throws.
The former Packers recruit has only recorded five receptions in the postseason, but he has recorded 21.6 yards per catch during that period.
If the Chiefs need a few big plays to keep them in the game, then it wouldn’t be a huge shock to see MVS see the ball come his way and find his way to the endzone.
