Golf | Valspar Championship Picks

Selections for this week’s golf

Scottie Scheffler was sublime in winning last week’s PLAYERS Championship, however our eyes were cast further down the leaderboard as Adam Hadwin finished in the top-20 to secure our winning tip. The tour stays in Florida this week and we’re continuing with three top finishing position plays.

Best mates Justin Thomas (+1100) and Jordan Spieth (+1200) lead the outright betting for the Valspar Championship and that highlights the quality on display this week. A few of the top pros will tee it up on Thursday but this presents an opportunity for some of the less familiar names to notch a good finishing position or even claim a title.

TOP 10 FINISH: BRANDON WU (+450, DraftKings)

Two good displays in far stronger competition puts Wu in a great position for the challenge at Copperhead. T19 in the PLAYERS and T15 in the Honda Classic followed a T2 earlier in the year at Pebble Beach. Relatively new to the PGA TOUR, the American is settling very nicely this year and will see this as a great opportunity to land a nice prize.

Wu carded an excellent second round 65 here and a T33 finish on his debut, much better is expected now with experience and on form.

TOP 10 FINISH: TAYLOR MOORE (+450, DraftKings)

Moore has been consistently solid this year and in a weaker field should be targeting the top of the leaderboard. The American went T11, T15, T14 earlier this year across the Famers Insurance, Pebble Beach Pro-Am and Phoenix Open, but even with the world’s very best in attendance he’s continued on with a T39 and T35 in the Arnold Palmer Invitational and PLAYERS respectively.

TOP 10 FINISH: GARRICK HIGGO (+750, DraftKings)

Higgo will be making his debut in the Valspar and arrives here off an encouraging T44 at the PLAYERS. The South African is relatively inexperienced on tour but has claimed a T11 and T20 this year, and has a tour victory to his name from 2021. Higgo’s track record on similar courses places him well here at Copperhead.

All odds listed from DraftKings, as of Tuesday March 14.
